Write a one-page reflection describing the progress of your project.
• What specific things have you done so far?
• What still needs to be done in the next 3 weeks to finish your project?
• What supports will you need from your advisor and mentor to complete your project?
• After seeing the examples of Patrice and Tony's multimedia component, what are your thoughts for your own (since it is required for everyone)?

So far, I think I have done a great job on my final project. So far, I have gotten quite a lot of time to work on my final project. I have been working on my report when I was at work place learning. So far, I have gotten the introduction finished and I have almost gotten the process done. I made the plan already on an excel spread sheet and pasted the file onto my final product already. I also have an almost completed list of materials to do Donors Appreciation Day. So far that is all that I finished doing.
In the next three weeks, I need to finish my project of course. More specifically, I need to finish the process of how to do some steps. The steps that I was not sure of or did not know how to explain is highlighted in yellow. So whenever Kelly looks over my report to give me some feed back, I will also be asking her to help me with that part. Then I will need to do the budget report of the paper. I need to write out how much money was spent on each of the materials used and how many of each material was bought. Then I will have to write out how to print out the gift certificates. I will alsp have to create a title page at school using photoshop because that is the program I am use to the most and I did not want to bother Kelly with a demo lesson on microsoft. So I will use my time at school during lunch or after school to create the title page with the images Kelly sent me. Once I finish those, I will be done with my final project.
The supports that I will need throughout my project will be the help of Kelly. Kelly has most of the imformation that I need to fill in the parts that I am missing. I will need Kelly to help me read over my report multiple times to see if that is how she likes it to be done and if it is not done to perfection, I will revise multiple times if I have to in order to make it a good report so every other region in the US can be able to read and execute the event. That way, the event will be national instead of just in the northwest region. I would say that is all the help I will need as of this moment, but unexpected things might happen and I might need more help.
After seeing videos of what the seniors produced last year in their movies, I was a bit discouraged. I do not think I can produce something like the videos we saw in class last week. I was a bit nervous that we had to create something like that. I did not even have any pictures of anything to help me create such a video, but I guess I have to start some where. I have gotten some pictures on my phone and ready to make part of the movie. Once I take more pictures and map out my story board, I think I will be able to produce a decent Imovie by the time exhibition comes...
My final project so far is mostly just all planning because i am still waiting until April 30th to "teach" my project to the kids which is to teach them a mini art project where they use chalk to draw a picture for the theme of the week which is oceanography. so far, i have been researching about oceanography and my mentor told me to research about Hawaiian art because it is much related to the theme. i also scheduled a time with KC on his calender telling him what time he needs to be at Chibi-chan to film me because i will be needing that for my WLE project.
For the next 3 weeks, i need to probably plan a little bit more with my mentor because she told me that i needed to bring some chalk for the kids so that they can use them, but im not sure if i have to buy it myself or if i can ask Shana(director) for some. so next week, i am going to make sure what to do with that. i think that most likely, i am going to have to buy it so i need to go buy it for before april 30th. as for planning out, i think i will need to make an example for the kids to look at but maybe not with the chalk, i am going to draw it out on paper so its easier for the kids to see.
Support that i need from my advisor is for KC to come on April 30th so that he can document me teaching the project to the kids. after documenting, i will need to use the video to use it for the exhibition. as for my mentor, i think that he is going to need to support me on the day of the project when i am teaching it. i feel that i have been through enough of the days working there to know what the kids do and what the teachers need to do in order to teach a project, but just in case, it would be helpful if he would help me out.
After watching the multimedia component's of Patrice and Tony, i think that i am going to make mine a mixture of both of theirs because i want to include a video and some pictures that i have been taking at chibi-chan. i feel that the video isn't enough to explain my thesis so i am going to add pictures also to make it seem better.
My final project is more or less done already. there may be more designs that get approved, but i don't need it to happen. My ramones design has been sampled already, but spencers wanted it in a higher quality ink called discharge, and then it will probably be put in stores. I will continue to make designs for the rest of the program, and those designs have the potential to be printed, but they may not be done in time for the exhibition. I feel that i have done a pretty good job at my internship. i have managed to do a job that people do professionally within weeks of starting. My project is actually doing the work that my mentor does at high enough quality to have my work probably bought by people for 20 bucks at a store.
ADDITION:
My presentation should be fairly simple to compile. i have plenty of pictures that i have taken at patrossamus studio and on field trips to the screen printing place and bravado headquarters. I also have my designs which can easily be put into the presentation, shown at various stages of development and all that good stuff. i doubt that i will have any video, due to the fact that i have no video camera. I am going to try to make my presentation as simple as possible, as patrice's sort of overwhelmed me with silly effects and voice/music overlapping and whatnot.
My project is already basically complete. I have finished all the main components of it. So far for my project I have set up a studio room for community musician. The first thing I had to do was take two an AD, and a DA piece of equipment. This is converting analog sound to digital sound and digital sound to analog sound, so the computer can read the instruments sound. You connect these using an ADAT bridge. I had to figure out how to connect these three things together so it would work properly. I figured out how to do it and set it up. After this we had to re-set up the computer. This is an extremely old system and I had to set up an old computer. The set up in the back of the room where the computer is stored and everything is plugged into it needed to be cleaned first. After this I had to actually set up the computer, it is now running an OS 9 operating system, which is pretty old. After I set the computer up I had to move around a few pieces of equipment in the rack on the actual studio. I then had to hook everything up into the patch bay and all of the pre-amps. This part was the most confusing, making sure that everything was plugged into the right place and that all the cables were organized in the right way. The next thing I had to do was install pro-tools and all of the plug ins. I also made baffles, which are in the studio to absorb sound so you can hear the playback at the best quality possible. I still have not finished all of the baffles and there are a few touch-ups I need to do in some of the connections. I also need to make sure the computers sound playback is working because it was not working last time I was there. All it needs is to be plugged into the speakers. I will then begen on starting to learn how to use pro-tools and make sure all of the sound equipment and connections are all working.
My project was done a long time ago and the final touches will make it better. By the time it is completely finished I am sure I will be proud of it and it will help out community musician out a lot. The thing I am worried about because I started my project early is that the documentation is not very good. It will just be pictures of the final project and staged pictures of me doing certain things that I did. There was really nothing else I could do for the documentation unless I did the entire project over again. So for my multimedia component I will just be making an iMovie using all the pictures that I will be taking tomorrow at my WLE with my mentor. I think my movie will be more like Patricies with a bunch of different images put together in a creative way. I am confident that my over all project will turn out pretty good and that people will be interested in what I did and how it helped community musician. I am exited to work on the project and see how it turns out. I have already started thinking about how exactly its going to be put together and what I can do to make it stand out.
So far I have been taking the Sysco order and putting all the food in their designated cabnets and cupbroads. I have also been bringing all the classes their desired supplies along with breaking down all of the boxes the food arrived in. I have been quite busy with hanging the cd's up in the hall of Children's Village this keeps me busy because its kind of time consuming getting the strings tied together because their so thin and also with finding the latter I need in order for me to get this task done. The support Im going to need from my advisor is:
-helping me obtain a good flash drive
-helping me plan out my images for my slides
-making sure my video makes sense
-helping me with planning what I will say during my slides
My mentor:
-supporting me by lending me her camera
-letting me take time out of the regular schedule to get some picture of the kids for my project
well snce this is required for everyone to do I plan to make mine similar to Patrice's movie but I'll just include the music in my Movie rather than including the music through the whole slide, i think this will make my presentation stronger because the audience will be more focused on what Im saying rather than trying to listen to the song playing.
P.S.
I will explain my slide while they role but when the movie comes on I will just have a slide show of pictures with my desired song playing(this means note cards for my presentation!)
My project has been going good so far. The main portion, which is the Heritage Night video is done and ready to be clipped to include with my presentation. It has been nice being able to work on my project on Wednesdays at the church, since I have not been working on any major projects after Easter. The work place has slowed down just a bit after the end of March, so I have been having a lot of time to work on my own project for the exhibition.
I still need to start on my Keynote, but I have mapped out what I want it to look like and have decided on what kinds of things I want to share on Exhibition night. I expect that the Keynote will not take me very long, since I have had a lot of practice making them and I also have a lot of artifacts I can include. Since video has been the largest portion of this internship, I am contemplating whether I want to add a little side video to my presentation, since I have a little bit more time, now that things at the office have slowed down. This video may better encompass my WLE as a whole.
I will be needing my mentor to take pictures/video of me while I am at my internship. I have a few, but I need some that really show the importance of my work in the church. Other than that, I don’t think I will be needing much guidance from her after that. I am pretty self-directed, and usually work on projects on my own, so I will just need her moral support.
The thing I might stress on exhibition night is the difference between iMovie and Final Cut Pro. This may be interesting to parents especially because it is an industry-standard film-editing program. I expect that my project will carry much more weight once I talk about that.
So far, for my project I have done a couple of things. One thing that I have done that has really helped me is mapped out a whole story bored in the order of how I want my PSA to be displayed. I have also let my mentor know about the project that I'm going to do. Also when I was last at my WLE my mentor took me upstairs to talk to the "back on track" coordinators. They let me know a little bit about the program. They also told me that they were going to email me a lot of things and set up a meeting time the next time I came. So I'm looking forward to that. The things that still needs to be done in the next three weeks is that I have to take all my pictures, I need to collaborate more with my mentor, I also need to do a lot of research on my topic, and I need to start putting it together in a PSA form. I think the key essential things for me and this project is that I need to really stay focused, get it together, don't procrastinate, and work my butt off. The support I will need from my advisor is to just check on my periodically and stay on me to make sure I'm getting my work done and to make sure I'm on task. The support that I will need from my mentor is to just give me some time at my WLE to take some of my pictures and work on my project. My thoughts for mines is that I just make it to the best of my ability and even try to go beyond what I think I already know how to do. Even though I go to City Arts and Technology, I still struggle with the technology side because it's very challenging and it's not my neck of the woods, so this is going to be a lot of work that I have cut out for myself. Let's see what I can accomplish!!!
With all the stress that comes with other classes and grades, i have been thinkng about my WLE project. I have been brainstorming different formats of my imovie, and different messages i want to convey in this movie. I have also been struglling with the thesis statemenet. I have drew out different ways i can express myself and how i felt about my experience, and incorperate that with what the children learn. I need to find do my thesis, and make sure that my imovie suports my thesis. I emailed all of my pictures to myself. I am going to take some more pictures that related to different themes such as, conflict, friends, problem solving, thinking critically, and other themes that relate to the childrens learning process. I would like to start on my imovie, and get helo from someone who would be willing to share some ideas.I think that my advisor could help me with some ideas, and i will also help me with the imovie in general. I also need suport because of the grades in the other classes, and encouragemetn to stay on top of all assignments. Patrice could also help me because she worked at the same intern as me and i know personally that she is always open to share new ideas. After seeign Patrice imovie, i thought abnout how i can make something different and uncompetitively make something better. I want it to be funny, and the serious at the same time. I want the audience to know that the kids are learning something is important, and with fun, there is pain, and challenge. The kids are challenged to be individual at times, and still feel a sense of community when it comes to interacting with people.
I am realy excited about gettign this project done!
So far at the bakery I have been doing everyday tasks of a cake decorator like my mentor Kathy. I still do all the simple tasks such s splitting and filling a cake and crumb coating a cake. I have also watched the baker a few times and helped her with the cookie cut outs and have helped with simple royal icing decorations such as little lowers that get put on cakes and also with Kathy's signature blue bird that she places on all of her cakes. I have learned how to make home made whip cream that tastes sensational and also make chocolate mousse, butter cream, chocolate butter cream, and mocha frosting and thy all tasted delicious. Although the taste is amazing the look of the cake and the design at the end of all the hard work and the steps that need to be taken in order to get to the final piece and make it look beautiful and unbelievably unique is what make cakes. The cakes created here at my WLE are like a double whammy. They hit you with a great taste and the design that blows you away.
My project needs to be completed just by doing the keynote and doing the movie which for me will just me showing the process I took to get to my project of the cake I split and filled and crumb coated and frosted and designed. So far I've done the storyboard of my video and now all I need to do is get my keynote together which doesn't seem like it'll be to hard but who know its exhibition I can't wait to see what gets thrown at me.
From my advisor I'm going to need help getting my thoughts straight and in order to make sure that my key not and movie are coming across with the right idea an I need my advisor to just guide me and answer questions when I have them. I believe my mentor has done everything she can do to help me. She has pretty much shown me the ways of a cake decorator, From the busy Saturdays to the sometimes super slow Wednesdays, she has invited me to a class hat she teaches for simple decorating tips for cakes and I have been with her at a little girls birthday part that was held at the bakery where all of the little 6 year olds got to decorate cakes and cupcakes and make a mess. She has done so much for me already and can't think of what more she could do to inspire me to become her.
I am pretty excited to see how I'm going to put my pictures that I have taken so far together into iMovie. The pictures I have, I think are well taken and are in order of the process of cake decorating and I am excited to see my final project put together exhibition night.
I have done many things so far to help the progress of my project. One of the things that I have done to help with my progress is that I got my storyboard for my imovie done. That was easy for me because I already knew how I wanted it set up and what I wanted to convey. I have also taken all of my pictures. I’m happy that that is out of the way. It wasn't really challenging but it was time consuming. I have also got my film developed and put it on a cd so it would be easy to load on the computer. My academic seminar teacher told me to save the pictures on his hard drive, so I got that completed also.
In the next three weeks I still have a lot of work on my hands. The first thing that I need to do is make sure I have all my blogs done. So far this is my last blog that I have to complete. Next I have to revise my resume and add in my internship experience. I also have to finish my placement profile worksite. That is going to be difficult for me because it seems very time consuming. I also have to make my second storyboard for my keynote and actually design my keynote. The last 2 things that I need to complete are my actual imovie and write a thesis because I still don't have one.
The support that I will need from my academic seminar teacher is that he just checks in with me annually to make sure that I’m on top of my work. Also if I need additional help form him that he gives it to me. From my mentor I need my letter of recommendation. That's all I can think of that I need from her.
Seeing Patrice and Tony's finished products didn't really influence me at all. We have really different projects, so I couldn't really look forward to there's for help. I already had in mind what I wanted to do. I can say Patrice's though gave me a little idea though. I don't really remember what there looked like though, but so far I’m doing well.
