Write a one-page reflection on what you did this week (5/2) at your internship. It needs to be creative and interesting for teachers and mentors ro read. DO NOT tell me what you did. Analyze what you experienced and learned and how it relates to everything else you have learned so far.

Today was a good day. I got to do something new. I think that my mentor really likes having me around because I can do some of the small jobs that take time away from doing tests for the patients. I relly feel like I am helping the hospital run more smoothly by going in every week. I got a lot done today. I was able to work on my project for a little while. Doing that made me realize the impact that I have on the hospital by doing my work in an efficiant manner. It is important to both the patients and the doctors. I am constantly learning new things, which is nice because it keeps the job interesting instead of just doing the same thing every day that I am there. I wish that I was allowed to do more, but I can understand why it is against the rules for me to do a lot of the thing that happen in the lab. I still get something out of seeing the lab techs do all of the tests on the samples though. I am really happy with what I have taken from this experience so far.

I was working today I realized that I had finished everything I was scheduled to do. Do I tried walking around and see if there was help needed on the floor. Sadly Zeum had a slow day with its guests. So instead I was asked by Brett Moran to help him develop his PowerPoint. Since he was absent the day of our project presentations he was suppose to make it up today. So I helped him out the best I could and went on my way.
My co-worker came up to me and asked me how my day was. I told him I sat and worked in front of a desk the whole day. He told me this was a small glipse into what future desks jobs are like. This really got me to hope that in my future I don’t just sit in front of a desk for a couple of hours. If I do continue working at a place like Zeum I really hope it is doing what the educators do. The go through the day helping people of all ages just having fun. That really seems more benefiting to me.

Today I told my mentor I was going to come back on the 16th for my very last day and he said it was fine. When I saw the kids in the morning, they were saying hi to me a lot and they were asking if today was my last day. I feel happy seeing these kids.
I tutored Michael and Brenda today again in math. This time it was adding and subtracting negative and positive numbers. We went over their test that they took. We went over it. I first drew a number line from the negatives to the positive to help them out. I went over a few problems they got wrong and then I asked them to do the next few by themselves. They got it right and I did it with them explaining to them how it is that answer. I really enjoy tutoring math because there is only one answer. If it’s not that specific answer, then it’s wrong.
I also got a treat along with the class today. It was strawberries and my mentor melted chocolate, so we could dip it into chocolate and eat it. It was delicious.
The kids had a puberty lesson today and I sat in the class listening. I thought it was interesting even though I learned about it before.

Today at the Marine Mammal Canter I arrived 10 minutes earlier then I normally do. I was surprised how few cars there were and I was able to get a spot at least half way up the hill. My first thoughts were that I should arrive this early every Wednesday; but sadly our crew was short a few volunteers today; which means more work. I don’t mind though. I liked having less people around. The day felt mellow but there was always something to do. It seems like every week I get to know a different volunteer better. I worked with Barry a few weeks ago a lot and after that I worked a lot with Erick, and this week I worked a lot with Mike. I like learning about the different volunteers and how everyone has come together just as much as I like working with the animals. I didn’t really do anything new today. But I definitely feel I got better at a few things. When I was doing hand feeds and free feeds I really picked up on it and got the animals to eat whole fish. When I was talking to Michele I mentioned that I only had 2 more weeks and she said “Oh great as soon as your all trained up, you have to leave”. Im satisfied Michele thinks I have learned everything and am trained but I cant wait to come back again next year when im 18 so that I can work with the sea lions and maybe even learn how to do subQ’s.

Since exhibition is coming, I’ve been able to work on my project in the office. In the early part of the day I worked on my project. In the process of completing my project, my mentor, Davonne, checks over what I’ve done so far in my guide and see if I need to make further improvements. I think it’s a good idea to get feedback from my mentor because it helps me do well and it guides me toward completing the project. Getting feedback gives me more ways to think about what I should add to finalize my project. It also helps me to know that I have a good amount of work to present on exhibition night. I have a good amount of my project done, but I still need to add pictures to make more interesting looking. I will be interviewing the Assistant Investigator, Kurt next week to get more information and experience on the process of subpoenas.
Later on in the day Jasmine and I were assigned to go up to the Record Room to help a lady (the same lady from last week). We were assigned to help make and pack files into the boxes for storage. We documented the files by recording a 7-digit number that was on each file. We also had to label the boxes by a certain code sticker and record it down. From this experience, I think that it’s really important to be organized, especially for the District Attorney’s Office because there are tons files and cases. It’s better to be organized than not be because when you’re not in order, you’ll feel out of place.
At the end of the day I had the chance to ask my mentor questions to help with the “Placement Site Profile.” I found it really helpful because I didn’t know the answers to some of the questions and since my mentor has been at the District Attorney’s Office for many years she gave really good responses.

Today was a great day. I got to ref my 1st soccer game!!! it was hella fun. the thing was that the little kids that were playing didnt know all the rules to soccer so at times in the middle of the game i would have to stop the game and explain how to play it, lol. since my mentor didn't want to give me his whistle i had to scream OUT!!! GOOOOALLLLL!!!!! FOUL!!! the whole time i was screaming my voice went away for about ten minutes, so i sat out until it came back again. After the 1st class left and the second and final class came in i was tired from running up and down the gym. But GUESS WHAT THE SECOND CLASS WANTED TO PLAY???? yes they wanted to play SOCCER!!! I went up to my mentor and asked him why..and he just laughed and said"now you know how i feel." hahaha so YET AGAIN i was running UP and DOWN the court yelling my voice away. then arouund Seven i swept the gym floor with a huge ass push broom and it was hella hard to keep it leveled ut i got it done. FINALLY came time to go home and i reflected on my day i can say that it was really good

I have been so busy this week since it’s the SAT weekend. I’ve been trying to cram with study groups, because I feel that it might help in the long run when it comes to the SAT’s. But from what I’m leaning the SAT work doesn’t seem that hard. I mean I went to the class that was mandatory by our school to go to, for people who needed to brush up on some SAT’s skills. It was a helpful class but I was left with the feeling that the work that h gave use was too easy. I don’t want to be stuck in a class for 5 hours not knowing what the hell to do. So I’m going to use other sources to study. I’m not the traditional learner, I’ve always been the student that need a visual or someone to talk to about a problem or just try to get them to explain what’s is going on in the educational world. Book or textbooks have never really helped me helped me learn a subject. It’s too complicated and boring to get information from. Knowledge needs to be fun and exciting sometimes not all of the times. I feel if I work a bit more on SAT prep at number2.com I’ll be really prepared for this weekend. So cross your fingers for some high scorin’.

well this wednesday what i did was i played with the children and we were outside playing kickball. The funny thing about playing kickball with those kids is that when i kick it, it goes reallt high in the sky and the little kids are all clapping around me and giving me high fives and everything. Then there was this one kid that says to me everytime that we play "Man you got boosters" and its so funny because you have to look at it like this these kids are only 7 to 8 years old and in the second grade. Its funny hearing how they try to talk like there adults. Its amazing because i always catch a little kid cursing and then i have to stop them and say that is not the right thing to do and that they should'nt be saying that or they can really get in trouble, but hey thats how life is going to be with little kids. Their always going to try and act like adults. These different experiences that i go through at this school teach me that its not always easy to teach a child whats wrong and whats right, sometimes they have to do it on there own. Like my mom always says when u fall down, get up and try again until you get it right.

Today at my internship I was typist. I’ve explained what a typist is during field trips already so I don’t need to go over that. I would explain more but tat is saved for my final project and I don’t want to write in here what I would for my book. But I am a horrible speller and three of the mistakes were too slight for the kids to notice and give me the Hands of Shame. KC corrected one, the teacher of the kids did one, and the help for today did. I didn’t feel bad though, I managed to write three pages about a pirate captain named Blue and is adventures on monster island. I liked being out there with the kids better then back doing production mostly because I usually accidentally jam the copy machine and then have to take it apart and bug everybody for help and feel like a big exploit-of-deleted. BUT Jasmine came to film today and ended up staying until 3pm much longer then KC (who managed to show up on time and saving me a lot of distress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and helped with about everything. Jory whipped out the chocolate chip cookie dough pop tarts which are gods gift to mankind and sweet-tooths everywhere, stating to the camera while holding up the box: Want a Poptart? This is how we roll at 826.” We were all laughing and Jasmine definitely said that our portion of the documentary would be the comic relief. During her mentor interview with Jory I was right in the side (off camera) binding left over books from the mornings field trip and kept laughing at what he was saying mostly because he said I could lift a oak table by myself and other ridiculous things. After Jasmine and I ran errands to pick up some decorations for the early Cinco De Mayo party (I also picked up a Jesus night light: Let his light, be your light), I set upon the various tasks that were assigned. I had to call parents and remind them of some meetings and I got hung up on twice by somebody who I gathered didn’t speak English very well and I felt like a huge jerk. I decorated the room and made up an elaborate story about “Willow” the spider (a fake spider in one of the chandeliers from Halloween) and then Jory came along and crushed it all. Compared to our decorating abilities on Valentines day, the Cinco De Mayo job looked like the New Jersey of decorating, but it looked decent and for some reason my legs felt like they were breaking and I almost passed out it was....AWESOME. For some reason I feel like it was my best day yet and maybe I should cut back on the sarcasm.

At this point in time I have started brainstorming on my actual project. Before I was just thinking of what I wanted to do, and right now I’m starting to put the website I’m supposed to be making together. Right now I have a rough sketch of what my layout is going to look like, and I have talked to KC Jones (my Academic Seminar Advisory) and my mentor (Mr. Heath) about what the requirements are. I was relieved to find out that what Mr. Heath wanted me to do on the website was also what I wanted to do. Although I haven’t started on the actual HTML code required to put the site together yet, I’m making pretty good progress with finding out what I want the site’s purpose to be, and how it’s going to better serve my mentor.
Aside from that, things have been going well at my Workplace Learning Experience. I have become completely accustomed to the work, and listening to the conversations other people have in the office has become more interesting as I am picking up on more and more of the legal vocabulary used in the office. Tasks I have to do as prerequisites, such as mailing out bills, have become second nature to me.
I have also gained a lot of good experience working with Microsoft Office. I often have to enter data into a database, which is done via. Microsoft Excel. I have learned little tricks to help speed up my data entry, and I have become more versed in how I organize data.

At my internship that I’m working at, I work with 4th and 5th graders, and help them with math. Mostly I work with 4th graders, especially with 3 kids in a separate room to help them individually so I can give them more of my attention, and my support. My idea for the project is to make a poster showing student how to add, subtract, and multiply fractions, with the 3 kids that I always work with. Also I will have the students take a quiz that has couple of fractions problems, and then I’ll have them take the same quiz after I post up the posters on the wall and explain it to them. Then I will take the results of both quizzes and make it as a chart, or a data. I think this project going to be useful, and helpful because students are having hard time understanding these kind of problems, and also for the teacher because he still keep trying to explain to them and make sure that everybody understood, but they always forget. So my idea will be as a reminder for the students and helpful for the teacher so he doesn’t have to repeat himself over and over. In some way, the project will show that I have learned how to communicate with children and know what are their struggles and how to solve them and make them better for the children and the teacher too. Also have children solve their struggles. On the day of the exhibition, first of all, I’ll show a data of how many students understood/solve the math problems that was on the quiz. Second of all, ill show the poster or picture of the poster that children and I made, and then I’ll show the result of quiz # 2. Finally I’ll compare both quizzes, and represent them a data. And of course I’ll show the pictures of the kids.

This week was another photoshoot. Everything went smoothly and I managed to set things up fast. I've been learning a lot about how the camera works and the process of making photos, and it really interests me.
Even though Marc already has an assistant for professional photoshoots, I can tell that theres only so much two people can do. I can see that the more people there are collaborating on a project, the faster it gets done. Even though at times I may not be able to help out, whenever something needs to be set up or changed I am on it asap.
Even though I know the archiving process will never actually finish until Marc loses his job, I know that I've helped to keep it more up to date than it was previously. This is useful to him because it allows him to be able to know where his work is and what it looks like with minimal effort.
